This “sushi” is all about fun, not chopsticks. Bananas get coated in creamy peanut butter, rolled in chocolate puffed rice for a little crunch, and sliced into bite-size rounds. Kids can help with spreading, rolling, and naming their favourite “sushi” pieces, which usually means they disappear fast. It’s quick, hands-on, and always a hit after school.
INGREDIENTS
- 4 medium bananas, peeled
- 125 mL peanut butter, smooth or crunchy
- 175 mL chocolate puffed rice cereal
METHOD
- Place the bananas on a cutting board or plate.
- Using a butter knife, spread peanut butter evenly over the outside of each banana.
- Pour the chocolate puffed rice into a shallow bowl or plate.
- Roll each peanut butter–coated banana in the cereal, gently pressing so it sticks.
- Slice into rounds about 2 cm thick.
- Arrange on a plate and serve.
Pro Tips
Chill the bananas for 10 minutes before slicing for cleaner cuts.
If the peanut butter feels too soft, pop it in the fridge briefly before rolling.
Best eaten fresh, but they’ll hold up for a few hours in an airtight container
